Which characters will Tokyo Ghoul’s Ken team up with for a task based on their skills and personalities?
Sui Ishida’s Tokyo Ghoul, as well as its several spinoffs and sequel, Tokyo Ghoul:re, is one of the most successful seinen anime/manga series. Ghouls that eat flesh are the night’s terrors of this universe, taking the place of vampires as the creatures that humans fear. The CCG investigators, such as the Mado father-daughter team and investigator Arima, are fighting back against this threat.
Meanwhile, the protagonist is Ken Kaneki, a normal college student who became a half-ghoul after receiving Rize’s kidney after a tragic accident. Ken is a man of two worlds, and he aims to bring the ghoul and human worlds together in harmony. But he’s no pacifist; if ghouls or investigators cross him, he’ll fight them all. Which characters will Ken team up with for a task based on their abilities and personalities?
Team Up With: Touka Kirishima
Touka was one of Ken’s first ghoul allies, and after a poor first impression, she invited him to Anteiku and assisted him in learning how to make coffee. But that’s just her day job; she’s a competent warrior as well.
Ken and Touka have their quarrels, but they also have a mutual understanding, and they fight well together and can work together on any mission, even when the stakes are high. Ken knows he can depend on Touka.
Team Up With: Kotaro Amon
One of the main characters from the original Tokyo Ghoul is investigator Kotaro Amon. He is a knowledgeable and honorable prosecutor who, whether in combat or in the ranks of the CCG, does not resort to dirty tricks to win. He doesn’t have any blemishes on his record.
Ken would prefer that, as he needs a reasonable and disciplined companion rather than a berserker or beast. Amon isn’t the best investigator, but he is one of the most well-balanced.
Team Up With: Akira Mado
Akira Mado, like Kotaro Amon, is a disciplined and skilled ghoul hunter who always prioritizes the task. She may even be a better pro than Amon, because she’s the one to never let her emotions get the best of her.
Ken could use someone calm and analytical like that on his team, particularly if he’s on a mission to get ghouls and humans together in the streets. Akira does have a flaw (she can’t keep her liquor down), but that won’t be a problem.
Team Up With: Mr. Yoshimura
While Ken was figuring out his new ghoul life, this kind old man was another much-needed friendly face. Mr. Yoshimura is a skilled warrior, but he prefers to spend his days running Anteiku (he’s the boss) rather than hunting.
That’s the kind of ally Ken desperately needs, and he knows he can rely on Mr. Yoshimura’s combat and diplomatic abilities on any mission. It also helps that Mr. Yoshimura is well-versed in international affairs.
Team Up With: Nishiki Nishio
This ghoul goes to the same college as Ken and, like Ken, has done an excellent job of concealing his true existence. Even Ken didn’t recognize him as a ghoul until they got into a fight. Nishiki’s modesty is shown by his human girlfriend.
Nishiki and Ken initially fought, but they now have a non-aggression pact, and Nishiki can negotiate the streets with grace and finesse. Nishiki’s personality isn’t great, but he’s someone Ken could rely on during a mission (as long as his girlfriend isn’t used against him).
